Boarding the bullet train

From the station door to your seat. 5 steps, with phrases in Chinese to show.

  1. Step 1

    Arrive early

    Arrive an hour early the first time. Stations are huge and there is security at the entrance.

  2. Step 2

    Enter with your passport

    Your passport is your ticket. Machines are usually for Chinese IDs, so go to the staffed lane.

  3. Step 3

    Find your gate

    On the screens find your train number, starting with G or D, and the boarding gate next to it.

  4. Step 4

    Boarding

    The gate opens about 15 minutes before and closes a few minutes before departure. Go through the staffed lane with your passport.

  5. Step 5

    Your carriage

    On the platform the carriage number is on the floor. Wait there. Bags go above or at the end of the carriage.
